Introduction to the Water Infrastructure Criteria

The Climate Bonds Standard Water Criteria define the eligibility requirements for water infrastructure projects to be included in Certified Climate Bonds, focusing on two main components: mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation and resilience to climate change.

• The Climate Bonds Standard Water Criteria establish the requirements for water infrastructure assets and projects to be eligible for Certified Climate Bond status. To achieve certification, bonds must also comply with the reporting and transparency requirements of the Climate Bonds Standard V3. The criteria are designed to ensure assets align with limiting global warming to 2°C, and ideally 1.5°C, while supporting the climate resilience of the asset and its environment.
