Green Bond Fact Sheet

The North Texas Municipal Water District issued a USD 35.1 million green bond on August 15, 2020, to fund wastewater treatment plant improvements and expansions, including projects at South Mesquite, Rowlett Creek, and Floyd Branch. This is the first US Municipal bond from Texas to obtain a Second Party Opinion (provided by Kestrel Verifiers). The bond has a 30-year tenor, an AAA credit rating from S&P, and commits to annual reporting via EMMA and the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board.

• The North Texas Municipal Water District issued a green bond on 15-08-2020 for USD 35.1 million with a maturity date of 01-06-2050 and a tenor of 30 years. The bond has a credit rating of AAA from S&P, a coupon of 2.500%, and a yield of 2.480%.
• Proceeds from the bond are allocated to water and wastewater projects, specifically the design and construction of the South Mesquite Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) system peak flow management and expansion phase I, the construction and inspection of the Rowlett Creek Regional WWTP operations building, South Mesquite Regional WWTP Solids Handling Improvements, Rowlett Creek Regional WWTP electrical improvement, and the design of Floyd Branch Regional WWTP Peak Flow Management.
• The issuance is noted as the first US Municipal bond from the state of Texas to receive a Second Party Opinion for a green issuance, which was provided by Kestrel Verifiers.
• Reporting on the bond will occur annually until maturity via EMMA, with continuing disclosures submitted to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. Project updates will also be provided in annual reports and on the projects website.
