Green Bond Fact Sheet

LLC “SFC RuSol 1” (Solar Systems LLC) issued a RUB 5.7 billion (USD 92 million) secured green bond on February 6, 2020, to finance solar energy projects in Russia. The bond, which matures in 2030, is the first Russian green bond to fully dedicate proceeds to renewable energy. The issuer will provide annual reports on the use of funds and environmental impacts, specifically measuring kWh of renewable electricity generated and CO2 emissions reduced.

• LLC “SFC RuSol 1” (Solar Systems LLC), a non-financial corporate and one of the largest solar energy producers in Russia, issued a secured green bond on February 6, 2020, with a total amount of RUB 5.7 billion (approximately USD 92 million) and a maturity date of February 6, 2030.
• The proceeds from the bond are dedicated to the acquisition, construction, and operation of solar energy projects, including those from subsidiaries and joint ventures. The framework allows for a look-back period of 3 years before the placement date for refinancing and includes the production of components for renewable energy projects.
• The issuer committed to annual reporting on the use of proceeds and project impacts until all funds are invested. Use of proceeds reports will list approved eligible green projects and unallocated balances, while impact reports will track electricity generated from renewable sources in kWh and the reduction or prevention of greenhouse gas emissions in tons of CO2.
• According to the Climate Bonds Initiative, this is the third green bond from a Russian issuer and the first to fully dedicate its proceeds to renewable energy projects. The issuance is noted as a step toward developing the domestic green bond market and attracting international investors in a country that primarily relies on natural gas.
