Green Bond Fact Sheet

Majid Al Futtaim Properties LLC issued a USD 600 million green sukuk on 14 May 2019 to fund projects in renewable energy, green buildings, sustainable water management, and energy efficiency. This is the first green sukuk from a financial corporate issuer in the United Arab Emirates.

• On 14 May 2019, Majid Al Futtaim Properties LLC issued a USD 600 million green sukuk with a 10-year tenor and a maturity date of 14 May 2029. This issuance represents the first UAE sukuk from a financial corporate issuer and the second such instrument issued from the country overall, following a March 2017 entry by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi.
• The proceeds of the bond are designated for four eligible categories: renewable energy (specifically wind or solar), sustainable water management, energy efficiency in buildings (requiring a minimum 20% improvement), and green buildings certified to BREEAM Very Good, LEED Gold, or higher.
• Majid Al Futtaim has committed to annual reporting on the environmental impact and allocation of proceeds for its Green Eligible Project Portfolio. The allocation report will detail the list of projects, total amounts allocated per project, amounts by category, and unallocated balances. The issuer will also engage a third party to conduct an external review of this reporting.
