CIEL Statement on ICC Arrest Warrants for Israeli and Hamas Leaders

The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) issued a statement supporting the International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor's application for arrest warrants against leaders of Israel and Hamas for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

• The ICC Prosecutor has applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, citing reasonable grounds for criminal responsibility regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip since October 8.
• The arrest applications for Israeli leaders include allegations of extermination, persecution, murder as a war crime, the starvation of civilians, and intentionally directing attacks against civilian populations.
• The document highlights the destruction of Gaza's civil infrastructure, medical capacities, and education buildings, as well as the shutdown of drinkable water pipelines and the destruction of the region's ability to grow food.
