Public Participation in the Process of Environmental Decision-Making: Designing, Implementing and Enforcing Environmental Standards

This document describes a conference held in Zvenigorod, Russia, from May 28-30, 1997, focused on public participation in environmental decision-making. The event was a collaborative effort between Russian and US governmental agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions.

• A conference was organized to address the various aspects of public participation in the environmental decision-making process through the cooperation of the State Committee for Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation, the Russian-US Environmental Law Task Force, the United States Agency for International Development, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the Center for International Environmental Law.
• The seminar took place in Zvenigorod, near Moscow, from May 28 to May 30, 1997, and included participants from academic institutions, NGOs, and governmental organizations.
