WIE STEHEN DIE ÖSTERREICHERINNEN ZU EINEM MÖGLICHEN PFANDSYSTEM

A survey of 1,000 representative adults in Austria reveals overwhelming public support for increased measures to combat plastic pollution, the implementation of a deposit system for beverage containers, and the requirement for plastic producers to contribute to waste management.

• A vast majority of the Austrian public supports more aggressive action against plastic waste and producer responsibility: 86% believe more should be done to reduce plastic waste, and 93% agree that companies with high plastic consumption, such as manufacturers and those selling plastic-packaged products, should contribute to the disposal and processing of plastic waste.
• There is strong national support for the introduction of a deposit system in Austria, with 83% of respondents in favor.
• Support for these measures is consistent across all federal states and age groups, though some regional variations exist: Upper Austria showed the highest support for a deposit system at 86%, while Salzburg had the highest agreement (98%) that plastic manufacturers should contribute to waste disposal.
• The survey indicates that the 55-and-older age group is the most supportive of both increased action against plastic waste and the responsibility of plastic manufacturers for disposal.
