• The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) refused applications for Prospecting Rights WC30/5/1/2/10226PR and WC30/5/1/1/2/10229PR. A subsequent appeal to the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) was also refused, leading the company to consider a judicial appeal process.
• To mitigate the loss of prospecting rights, the company is pursuing an EMP 102 Amendment Application to expand mining areas by 28.7ha in the Northern Beach deposits and 75ha in the Geelwal Farm Prospecting area. Additionally, new prospecting rights applications (WC30/5/1/1/2/10261PR and WC30/5/1/1/2/10262PR) were lodged on 22 December 2016.
• The company has applied for further onshore prospecting rights at Klipvley Karookop, north of Geelwal Farm, and has initiated an aerial survey of the Tormin beach deposit to quantify total beach deposition tonnages, grade, and location.
