S24G and Similar Listings

• Environmental decisions and authorisations, including those for Section 24G rectification, cannot exceed the scope of current listed activities; if new regulations include different wording or thresholds, only the overlapping portion of the original activity can be authorised.
• Certain activities previously managed under EIA regulations are now governed by the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (NEMWA), and proponents must check section 19 of that Act for applicable waste management activities.
• The guide maps specific historical activities to current 2014 NEMA listings (GNR 983, 984, 985), such as mapping the construction of facilities for commercial electricity generation to multiple activities in GNR 983 and 984.
