URGENT REQUEST FOR PROVISION OF WATER TANKS, RELIABLE WATER SUPPLY, AND SANITATION PACKS TO COMMUNITIES WITHOUT ACCESS TO WATER

• In KwaZulu-Natal, the Somkhele community has lacked adequate water for years, with a single weekly water tanker providing 2,500 litres for an estimated population of 5,791.
• In Gauteng's Tjovitjo squatter camp, sanitation is critical as portable toilets have not been cleaned since the start of the lockdown, with approximately five families sharing one toilet.
• In Mpumalanga's Phola/Ogies informal settlement, women collecting water have faced police harassment during the lockdown, leading some to collect water under cover of darkness.
