African Rainbow Minerals' first annual progress report for its Greenhouse Gas Pollution Prevention Plan reports total 2018 emissions of 181,986 tonnes of CO2 equivalents across its mining and ferroalloy operations in South Africa.

• African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) operates diversified mining and minerals activities, including the production of iron ore at Khumani and Beeshoek mines, and manganese ore at Black Rock Mine. The company also produces ferromanganese at Cato Ridge Works and ferromanganese and ferrochrome at Machadodorp Works, though in 2018 only three of six furnaces at Cato Ridge were operating and Machadodorp was limited to recovering ferrochrome from historical slag dumps.
• For the 2018 calendar year, ARM reported total greenhouse gas emissions of 181,986 tonnes of CO2 equivalents. The emissions inventory includes stationary combustion at Beeshoek, Black Rock, and Khumani mines, stationary combustion at Cato Ridge and Machadodorp Works, and process emissions from ferroalloys production at Cato Ridge Works.
