A letter from the South African Department of Environmental Affairs to Eskom regarding the Majuba Power Station's application for the postponement of compliance with the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act 39 of 2004 minimum emission standards.

• The National Air Quality Officer granted a postponement of compliance with the minimum emission standard for new plants at Majuba Power Station from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2025, with a limit of 3200mg/Nm3 based on the sulphur content of the fuel.
• A postponement of compliance with the minimum emission standards for existing plants was granted from 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2020, with a limit of 1500mg/Nm3.
• Eskom is required to implement an offset programme to reduce particulate matter (PM) pollution in the ambient/receiving environment, with a definite implementation plan due by 31 March 2016.
