• Minister M.J. Zwane of Mineral Resources set aside a previous decision by the Deputy Information Officer to refuse access to specific records concerning Atha Africa and the Yzermyn Project.
• The granted request for access to information includes records of the approved financial provision made by Atha Africa under section 41 of the MPRDA, the approved Mining Work Programme (or draft) for the Atha’ Yzermyn Project, correspondence between Atha Africa and the DMR under section 14(1)(b) of the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, 57 of 2003, and correspondence between the DMR, Atha Africa, the Department of Environmental Affairs, and/or the Department of Water and Sanitation regarding the Yzermyn Project.
