RECORD OF RECOMMENDATION: INTEGRATED WATER USE LICENCE FOR KIPOWER IPP COAL-FIRED POWER STATION

The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER), acting on behalf of groundWork, is requesting clarification from the Department of Water and Sanitation regarding the "minimum requirements" used to recommend the issuance of an integrated water use licence (IWUL) for the proposed 600MW KiPower coal-fired power station near Delmas, Mpumalanga.

• The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER), representing groundWork, has requested the Department of Water and Sanitation to clarify the meaning of "minimum requirements" cited in the Record of Recommendation (RoR) for the issuance of an integrated water use licence (IWUL) to KiPower (Pty) Limited. This request is intended to support an appeal of the IWUL.
• The IWUL application pertains to the proposed 600MW KiPower coal-fired power station, which is planned to be located near Delmas in Mpumalanga.
