MANDATE

A mandate letter from Dzomo La Mupo authorizing the Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) to appeal an environmental authorisation granted to the Musina Makhado Special Economic Zone (SOC) Ltd for its Southern Site project in the Vhembe District Municipality, Limpopo Province.

• Mphatheleni Makaulule, acting as Director of Dzomo La Mupo, has authorized the Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) to lodge an appeal under section 43 of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA) against an environmental authorisation granted to Musina Makhado Special Economic Zone (SOC) Ltd.
• The appeal targets an environmental authorisation granted on 23 February 2022 (noted as 23 February 2021 in the body of the text) under Regulation 25 of the NEMA Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014. This authorisation allows Musina Makhado Special Economic Zone (SOC) Ltd to perform listed activities for the establishment of the Musina Makhado Special Economic Zone, Southern Site, situated in the Vhembe District Municipality of Limpopo Province.
