WRITTEN OBJECTIONS TO THABAMETSI’S NERSA LICENCE APPLICATION

The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER), acting on behalf of Earthlife Africa Johannesburg, submitted written objections to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) regarding a licence application by Thabametsi Power Company (Pty) Limited.

• The Centre for Environmental Rights submitted an affidavit and eight supporting annexures (marked A1 to A8) containing objections from Earthlife Africa Johannesburg regarding Thabametsi Power Company (Pty) Limited's licence application to NERSA.
• Earthlife Africa Johannesburg submitted its objections on 15 December 2016, prior to a granted extension deadline of 10 January 2017, due to the client's unavailability on or before that date.
• The Centre for Environmental Rights expressed that the time provided for submitting objections was inadequate and requested a further opportunity to make submissions during a future public hearing, suggesting a minimum of 30 days' notice for such a hearing.
