Request to SANBI for records relating to the National Norms and Standards of the Management of Elephants

The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) submitted a formal request to the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) for records concerning the National Norms and Standards for the Management of Elephants in South Africa, 2008.

• The Centre for Environmental Rights requested all records held by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) for the period from March 2008 to February 2017 regarding documents submitted under paragraph 8(c) of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004, National Norms and Standards for the Management of Elephants in South Africa, 2008.
• The request specifically targets information that responsible persons are obliged to submit to SANBI to assist in the creation of best practices, a national and international database on elephant management, and the development of research and monitoring programmes.
