Oil and gas industry bailout: why funds must go directly to Canadians and protecting our health

The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) opposes providing public funds to the oil and gas industry, suggesting that support should instead be directed toward workers and environmental cleanup to protect public health and address climate change.

• CAPE and a coalition representing 1.3 million Canadians have urged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet to withhold public funds from oil and gas companies, arguing that the COVID-19 crisis should not justify a transfer of funds to an industry contributing to future health crises.
